Macintosh Connectivity Package
NSIT provides the Connectivity Package to help members of the University community configure their computers for Internet access and to supply pre-configured applications that take advantage of that connection. This documentation walks you through installing the Connectivity Package and gets you started using its applications.
Version 13.1 of the Connectivity Package contains significant changes and improvements from previous versions and is recommended if you are using a version of the package older than 12.0. For a specific list of the software (and version numbers), read our list of included software.
Main Packages
- Thunderbird – Thunderbird is a secure and powerful email client
- Firefox – Firefox is NSIT's recommended web browser
- Fugu (SFTP Client) – Fugu allows you to upload and download files from NSIT servers
- Crescat (SSH Client) – Crescat allows you to start shell sessions on NSIT servers
- Spark – Spark allows you to easily communicate in real-time via text-based chat - more commonly known as Instant Messaging
- Connect Pack Updater – the Connect Pack Updater helps you easily keep your Connect Software up to date

- Virex (Antivirus) – Virex is antivirus software from McAfee
- Acrobat Reader – Adobe's Acrobat Reader allows you to read PDF formatted documents
- Cisco VPN Client – Cisco's VPN Client lets you connect to Windows file shares from off campus
